Rendering is the process of applying mortar to the exterior walls of a property.
The advantage to rendering your property is that it allows you to select from many different styles and finishes that cannot be achieved otherwise. This can be done without any structural work being done to the property.
Rendering also acts as insulation so can help you to save money on your heating bills in the winter months.
The two main types of render available are cement and acrylic.
Cement Rendering – Cement rendering can be applied to interior and exterior walls made of cement, brick or stone. It is a mix of lime, sand and cement and is extremely versatile, being able to be applied rough or smooth depending on the mix. There are many different looks that can be achieved using a cement render which makes it ideal for almost any project. After the render has been applied it can then be textured or painted to your specification. Cement rendering has been used for centuries and is an excellent way to improve the appearance and sturdiness of a property as well as being a great weather proofing measure for exterior walls.
Acrylic Rendering – Different projects require different types of mixes. Acrylic rendering is suitable for certain surfaces where cement rendering would not be appropriate including cement blocks and concrete panelling. It also has the advantage of having higher water resistance and more strength when compared to cement rendering. Acrylic rendering allows you to use many different types of finish including lime, stone, marble, sandstone, clay and glistening finish. Another bonus of acrylic rendering is that it takes only 2 days to dry and cure when compared with a 28 day period of a traditional cement render.

Fascias, Soffits & Bargeboards

Whether it’s just new guttering or perhaps replacing or capping over your fascias and soffits or even just a simple gutter repair, the benefits of PVC-u are obvious and if the new fascia boards and guttering are installed correctly they will be virtually maintenance free for many years to come.

Installation
There are only 2 ways to install new PVC-u fascia and soffit boards, the cap over method or the full wood removal method.
The full wood removal method means exactly that, where all the existing fascia, soffits and if the house has gable ends, bargeboards are fully removed and then replaced by new PVC-u boards.
A lot of companies will insist on and only use the full wood removal method which in principle is fine but in reality it is often not needed and the usual reason that these companies insist on only using this method is because it works out over double to what the cap over method would cost.
However in saying that there are cases where a full wood removal is warranted and in order to decide which method to use we will firstly carry out an honest and professional assessment as to the condition of your existing fascia and soffit boards, we can then advise you as to which method of installation would be best.
